How to Make an SOS Post
When using the app to mark your location, please check the Covid panel and set it appropriately for the person. If your device is GPS enabled, you can click ‘Get GPS’, otherwise please select your location on the map.
When you click on the map, you can pass those first three numbers to someone to find your location.
SOS Section
Below the map is the SOS section, within which are sub-categories, such as Personal, Vehicle, At Sea etc., There is a ‘Disabled’ section on the form so please indicate if you are deaf, blind or in a wheelchair, and also indicate if you are vulnerable. Once completed, press ‘Go’ to generate a five-digit ‘situation’ number.
When you ring someone for help, you can tell them your numbers, which when entered to find you, will relay all the information you have included such as your GPS location, negative for Covid, had a booster within 12months, if you have any disabilities and all the other information.
Assisted Speech
If you have problems speaking, or if you are in a different country speaking another language. Press ‘Speak’ and your location will be read out, and you can change the voice, and also the language.
If you have no phone but can find a CB radio or PMR, then ask for help and give them your numbers.
Morse Code
Alternatively, if you cannot transmit voice, select the ‘Morse’ panel and transmit your location via morse code. Using the morse panel, you can also type a message and convert that to morse code. Set the options for word speed and frequency.
If you are trapped somewhere, and people can hear you knocking on a pipe or flat surface – set the Morse Frequency to Very Low and lay your phone on the surface. Don’t let it vibrate off but it is possible that may work, and worth trying anyway.
Go Live
On GoTellus, below the form, there is a ‘Publish’ box within which you can write something relevant. This will immediately put your SOS post on the map, anonymously, but this open’s a chat for you, and you could get useful advice/help from other members.
This website is NOT an online emergency service.
We simply offer a platform for members to ask advice and pass alerts and information to other members.
However, when someone enters your location numbers into our number search, this will produce your exact location on the map and all your encoded information. Plus they will see your relevant post and can communicate directly with you through chat. This also allows you to take and broadcast photos and live video of where you are and what is happening.
